Beyond reproach

Veritas merged with Symantec mid-2005. I joined the Veritas group in Dec 2005. Sadly did not get to
experience the infamous Veritas culture. I did stay on for around 7+ years, the Pune office was and
is still a great place to work. However last time I visited my friends in Pune, I could feel a sense
of unease and frustration.
If management folks are reading this they will be surprised. Most of my friends weren't so angry or afraid about the future of the company. What really peeved them off was the conceit and hubris displayed by top-management at various events where questions about the split and the original decision to acquire Veritas in the first place was questioned.
I was pretty shocked to hear top-management give out answers like 'next time we'll ask your advice when we plan to acquire another company' to concerned and anxious employees.
I remember, very early in my career, a senior once advised 'never admit your mistake'. With leaders like these I wonder if there is any hope.
Coming out honest, accepting mistakes and learning from them is what we are taught. However top-management is one which is above and beyond all of this - its really their loss.
